I’ve literally had this gorgeous skein of Misti Alpaca yarn for years. I think I bought it with a market bag in mind. Then, I decided to save it for something more special. Do you have any special skeins like this? When I thought about making a new stashbusting crochet project, playing around with this yarn was a natural choice. Wouldn’t this make a pretty Mother’s Day gift for someone special?

This pattern features two panels of crochet lace stitches. The panels work well for showcasing both a variegated yarn or a solid color. It also looks good in stripes. The idea is to dive into your stash and find enough yarn that you’d love to showcase in a lightweight scarf.

Pattern Key (Standard U.S. Crochet Terminology):
ch(s): chain(s)
ch-1 sp: chain one space
ch-2 sp: chain two space
dc(s): double crochet(s)
rep: repeat
shell: shell = 5 dc in same stitch
sk: skip
sp(s): space(s)
st(s): stitch(es)
Notes:
- When a row begins with ch 4, this counts as a dc and a ch stitch. After you make the ch 4 at the start of these rows, you will then skip the first dc and chain one and make the next dc into the second dc in the row below.
- When a row begins with a ch 1, this does not count as a stitch
- To make a wider scarf, adjust the base chain by adding stitches in multiples of 8.
- Note that a wider scarf will require more yarn if you want to achieve the same length.
- Shell is a special stitch made up of [5 dc] in the same stitch
